Do you have family video cassette tapes that need to be digitized? We are currently adding to a cache of found footage and photography with ties to the Charlotte, NC area. If you would like to be a part of this project we will digitize your family media for a fair price and send you downloadable, labeled video links.
The first tape we digitized came from a snowbank in front of a demolished 1930s bungalow. Family 1988 was a recording of a working class East Charlotte family whose members lived and died just a few blocks from our home. That tape inspired us to invest in equipment and learn new skills to recover more memories. There is an urgency to this project due to the ephemerality of the magnetic tape medium. Unlike the era of consumer-grade film cameras, family life in the 1980's through the 2000's was recorded on technology with a lifespan between 10 and 25 years.
